Lisa’s Summer Favorites
Treveri Cellars Sparkling Rosé:
Treveri opened in 2010 and has put Washington sparkling wines on the map! Treveri Rosé is my “go to” glass of bubbles right now! “Family Grieb” is spoiling us with their excellent German old-world talents rooted (thank goodness) right here in our own back yard … well almost… tasting room in Wapato (close to Yakima.)
I love their non-traditional approach to Riesling and Mueller-Thurgau. Treveri largely focuses on 100% varietal sparkling wines, and is also launching a reserve tier of sparkling wines. Can’t wait.
Sno-Valley “Grow at home” Mushroom Kits:
Will and Rowan spoil us each week with our special delivery of Sno-Valley Mushrooms for Pomegranate Bistro. But how fun is growing your own at home?! My favorite is the Blue Oyster Kit. I’m in love with the color, and the flavor is out of this world! You can order online or pick one up at a farmers market.
My Two Souths:
My son, Bo, & daughter-in-law Krystal, gave me “My Two Souths” cookbook for Christmas. Hailing from Atlanta, everything sounded deliciously familiar to me, and yet foreign at the same time! I had to jump in and try Asha’s Indian-inspired twists on the Southern recipes with which I was raised.
I love love love her riff on Chicken and Waffles: Keralan Fried Chicken with Lowcountry Cardamom Waffles. The waffles are made with low-country rice and the spicy maple syrup has cumin, coriander and red pepper flakes, OMG!
Arbourdoun Lopez Island Calendula Cream:
This is an all-woman crew of herbalists and gardeners who grow a field of cutting flowers, tend an espaliered apple orchard and manage the cream + lotion business. As a chef who has tended arm burns from the kitchen, this became my daily “go-to” cream. I recently forgot to pack my arbourdoun on a trip out of state and had serious withdrawal pains without my big brown jar.
